On Tuesday, April 7, 2020, the NC Landscape Contractors’ Licensing Board voted to approve an Emergency Rule regarding Continuing Education (CE) credits required for license renewal for August 1, 2020 –  July 31, 2021. The Board took this action to support the COVID-19 social distancing efforts that have been directed by the Federal and State Government, and to assist licensed landscape contractors who are unable to locate a sufficient number of hours of in-person continuing education classes due to the social distancing directives.

The emergency rule allows a one year extension of continuing education requirements for the license year ending July 31, 2020. Credits already obtained for the current licensing year ending July 31, 2020 will be applied to the next year ending July 31, 2021. All licensed landscape contractors are still required to keep a record of their completed continuing education credits.

You will still be required to renew your license by August 1, 2020 to maintain your landscape contractor license.  To renew your license for 2020-2021, you will still submit a renewal application with the $60.00 renewal fee, and maintain a valid Surety Bond. Only the CE requirement is extended for this year.
