A beautiful Acer palmatum ‘Contorta’, or contorted Japanese Maple, at Longwood Gardens. Acer palmatums are known for their lovely form and palmate leaves, which may be finely “dissected,” like the ones pictured here.

This fall, we will be holding four of our popular online Plant ID classes offered in partnership with Longwood Gardens! The classes run from October 10 to November 21, and students will have access to course materials for an additional 6 months after the classes end.

We also offer fully asynchronous, Self-Study versions of our Plant ID classes! Unlike the full course offerings, the self-study classes have no live components (instructor or student interaction, live sessions, discussion posts, graded assignments, quizzes, etc.) and no set times to complete the material before the courses close in Spring 2023. The Self-Study classes are perfect for those who want the same core information provided in our regular Plant ID classes, but with a more relaxed time frame and lower price point. Please note that no completion certificates are offered for the Self-Study classes, and no credit is given toward applicable Longwood certifications.
